Risk Factors for Congestive Heart Disease: Lets Have a Conversation

Congestive heart disease

Congestive heart disease affects about five million Americans, and several medical professionals believe that within five years time about half of those people will unfortunately die from their state.  Congestive heart disease is marked by the heart’s inability to pump efficiently enough to supply the body with freshly oxygenated blood.  It is the leading cause of hospitalization among senior citizens and accounted for nearly 20% of the hospitalization of this age group in 2003.

Since congestive heart disease is a state that warrants consideration, a brief conversation of several of the risk factors might be in order. There are many of these factors that i am sure just was an accident and could not be helped, but there are so many things that i can think of that a person could change to lower the risk in your life.

Risk Factors That Cannot be Helped

There are a number of risk factors for congestive heart disease that simply can’t be helped. One major factor was the fact that there had been a previous heart attack, and was aging, i am specifically speaking about over the age of 65 and is just another factor that we have in common in this state.A history of diabetes is another one of course.Congestive heart disease might be a state to watch out for although it is very treatable these days you must understand that the progression of the disease is not reversable, If you have one of these medical conditions and you catch it early it is very treatable.

Another risk factor that cannot be changed when dealing with congestive heart disease is having a genetic disposition to the disease.Knowledge of your total family history and doing a bank of Genetic testing can tell a doctor without a shadow of doubt whether you have congestive heart disease or not and he can also tell you whether or not you should be concerned.

Risk Factors the Can Be Changed

While some factors that signify the potential for congestive heart disease cannot be helped, there are a number that can.  These factors consist of such things as continuing high blood pressure, drug or alcohol abuse, thyroid disease, and even heart valve disease. All the risk factors listed including alcohol abuse and even more drug abuse can be maintained if you and your doctors work together very closely and be sure to copy your primary doctor on all your test results. The best direction i would say this time is to stop this disease from affecting your life and the lives that love you that are around you by working with your doctor to come up with a plan of attack on the congestive heart disease itself.

Unfortunately, congestive heart disease is hard to diagnose because it frequently occurs as a result of or in conjunction with other forms of heart disease.  Perhaps the best hope for patients with this disease is to catch it early and begin treatment as soon as possible.

You can lead a happy life by preventing the common heartburn symptoms. Many times people take the heart pain lightly however it may be heart attack. It is best to be absolutely sure of what the heartburn symptoms are so that you can make sure that you are not in grave medical danger. Heartburn pregnancy symptoms are similar but have a much different cause.

Checking For Heartburn Symptoms

Heartburn symptoms are themselves not harmful to you, but can be extremely painful.  Actual heartburn is the name for the symptoms and is caused by something called acid reflux. It is the condition of medical with heartburn being the real symptoms of that particular condition.  What triggers acid reflux can very from person to person, sometimes it is diet, sometimes hereditary, and sometimes it can just be brought on for no apparent reason.

The first and most commonly recognized heartburn symptom is a painful burning sensation in the chest. This sensation starts behind the sternum and can travel up to the throat.  It usually comes on quickly after the onset of acid reflux and can last a few minutes to many hours.  Accompanying this can be a burning sensation in the throat, usually fairly high up on the neck.  This sensation generally will not be present in more serious conditions.   This pain is usually aggravated by swallowing and results from contents of the stomach coming up into the back of the throat.  In addition a person will often have a sour taste in the back of their mouth.

These symptoms also come with a difficulty in swallowing.  Food will seem to not travel easily down the esophagus down to the stomach. There is usually a sensation of food being stuck in the throat followed by chest pressure and the above burning.  This condition can be far more serious and should be checked out by a physician if it persists continually.

One thing that is commonly overlooked is chronic coughing in non smokers.During the recent studies it has been shown that about half of all chronic cases can be tied back to acid reflux.  The discomfort in the stomach causes the person to have a frequent and persistent cough that does not seem to have a cure.By any how, if you are frequently coughing it is a good reason to consult a doctor.
